Today was another wonderful day in New Zealand. Im am still on the South Island.
After having spent the night at a campsite in Nelson, I left early in the morning. The clouds hung low, but it cleared up during the day and became bright and sunny. The air already is cold and chilly, but the sun warms heavily and the car gets a free sauna if left in the sun.
I stopped at Pelorus Bridge after a short drive. I left the small café to my right and set out for a 30 minute walk in the forest. High silver fern, old moss covered trees, humid air and the birds singing in the trees. A lovely day. During the walk I decided to turn of for the waterfalls, so I ended up walking around two hours. Well, just a few photostopps included. The first waterfall was more like a water drizzle and not what I had hoped for. So I set out for the second, which was slightly more of a fall, but also not very big. The water at its bottom was really clear!
I continued my trip and arrived in Havelock at lunch time. Perfect for a mussle chowder at the Slip Inn Café. Right beside the slip of the adjoining marina I sat outside looking over the marina. A delicious lunch and a beautiful day.
Carrying on towards the designated camp site for the night, I again drove over winding roads. The camp site did not look as nice as I hade hoped so I continued to Picton instead. From here I will catch the Interislander Ferry tomorrow morning. So I had a nice cup of tea in the afternoon and while I am writing this post, the sun is getting lower and lower.
Another wonderful day in New Zealand. As previously mentioned. I am very curious about the North Island.
